Loping

I have no mouth

Luna moths have no mouth and do not eat. They live for a week after emerging glorious from their cocoon and exist to mate, to fly by the light of the moon, to fool bats with their wing eyes, and to remind us that life is both short and sweet.

Luna moth

No mouth, no screaming,
nothing but the light and the
Ticking of the clock.

Seven nights and days
Until the ragged end
Of the search for love.
